Happy New Year! I can't believe it's 2019 already. Like seriously, where did the year go? I feel like 2018 flew by. Anywho, I'm a huge fan of Gretchen Rubin and her podcast Happier. Last year, she and her sister did a spin on New Year's resolutions. You create a list of 19 things you want to accomplish in 2019. Instead of the typical arbitrary or massive goals, they had a mixture of large and small goals for the upcoming year. I love this idea for a bunch of reasons. For those nagging tasks that you've been meaning to do for years, this creates an accountability avenue. This method employs SMART goals (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-based). SMART goals is something I teach and preach in my day job, so I love the overlap. The number matching makes ... [Read More]

Saturday Sharing
Happy Holidays! I hope you and your family had an amazing Christmas and have a Happy New Year. I just wanted to drop in today and share a few favorites from around the internet lately. Before you add 'go on a diet' to your New Years resolutions, read this from a RDN.I gifted this to myself this Christmas, and though I'm still getting the hang of it, I think I'm in love. Even A is getting in on the action. I'm always looking for ways to simplify my life, and this article has a great philosophy for simplifying motherhood. Drew gave me this for Christmas. Probably the most difficult gift I've ever received! I know how how I'm celebrating New Year's Day. Have a great weekend! :) ... [Read More]
DIY Toddler Duvet Cover
Have you ever shopped for toddler duvet covers? If not, I pray you never have to endure that particular level of frustration. If yes, you understand the struggle. Almost every single duvet cover or comforter that's sized for a toddler bed is super themey. (Is that a word?) Like, I don't want a blanket with Paw Patrol or a giant alligator on it. And I'm sorry; I'm not paying a bunch of money for something that's going to get peed on. #pottytraining Pottery Barn had a few cute, classic styles but the selection was super limited and almost only available in-stores. (Our nearest store is an outlet an hour away.) Whomp whomp. So yeah, the search for the perfect duvet cover was ridiculously frustrating. I finally just gave up and decided to DIY it. I've shared the tutorial ... [Read More]
Southern Style Cornbread
Y'all I have some strong opinions on cornbread. Cornbread should not be cakey or sweet or mushy. And don't you dare use that jiffy mix stuff. Cornbread should be crumbly and a little dry with a nice crisp crust, made from scratch in a cast iron skillet. And that's exactly what this recipe is. This particular cornbread recipe was given to me by my grandparents when I got married because it was always one of my favorite things to eat at their house. Let's get down to it, shall we? Ingredients self-rising corn meal1 stick of butter1/2 cup of oil1 cup of buttermilk1 egg Directions Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Pour oil and butter into a cast-iron skillet and place in the preheating oven to melt. While the oven is preheating, mix the buttermilk, egg, ... [Read More]
Free Football Schedule Printables
This Saturday kicks off college football season! As graduates of the University of Mississippi, Drew and I are huge Ole Miss fans. We actually met at Ole Miss, but that's a story for another day. I love keeping a copy of the schedule handy, but personally I like something a little prettier than the freebie schedules distributed by the school. And since sharing is caring, I've made a copy of my Ole Miss schedule available for you to download for free! The schedules are color-coded based on what color you should wear to that game (when applicable) and home games are in all caps. Plus, they're just plain cute. And even though I'm a Rebel through and through, I created schedules for a few other SEC schools. Didn't get your team? Leave me a comment and let me know! I'll ... [Read More]
DIY Puppy Potty Training Bells
"Did that dog just ring a bell to go outside?" Without fail, every guest is going to utter these words on their first visit to our home. It's kind of like our version of "It's bigger on the inside." And the answer is always yes. The dog did ring a bell to go outside. When we first moved into this house, Dexter was already potty trained and Daphne was just a wee pup. Dexter would scratch, bark, etc to let you know he needed to have a little private time outside. (Anyone catch that Toy Story reference?) Daphne, however, would just sit politely by the door. You only knew she needed to go out if you happened to see her sitting there.... or found a puddle in the floor. gross. After a bit of googling, I saw a tip to hang a bell around the your door knob. The bells will ring every time ... [Read More]
